The long-awaited collab

Welcome back to the second week of Liv Tries Mas! This week I went to Taco Bell located in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to try the Pretty Pink Baja Blast. I was very excited about this collab with Olivia Rodrigo because I found myself in the center of this Venn diagram.

Isn't this kind of random?

If you are unfamiliar with Olivia Rodrigo, this may seem like it came out of left field, but in reality, she has been manifesting this for a while. As shown in the last blog, she did an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine where she said that her dream would be for people to sit in a car drinking a Baja Blast and listening to her music from top to bottom.

What has happened since the announcement?

While this collab was announced a month ago at the time of writing, there has been so much PR for it. The biggest example would be Taco Bell debuting the drink at Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival. At Taco Bell's booth there was a giant inflatable pink Baja Blast; guests could try the drink, and get a tote bag with an embroidered Taco Bell receipt with their name on it. This was the first year the festival took place and was focused on hosting only women performers to raise money for different organizations that supported women. The festival turned out to be a huge success and had collaborations with brands like Lego, Verizon, Etsy, Depop, and more.

Why Now?

Olivia released her new album on June 12th, 2026; you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Also, her 3rd tour, The Unraveled Tour began on September 25th, 2026. So what better time than when there is so much added hype around Olivia and her album?

Trying The Pretty Pink Baja Blast

I went to 1020 Foxcroft Avenue, Martinsburg, West Virginia, at 8:10 pm on Sunday, September 27th. I went with my boyfriend, Landon Howe, and we picked up a mobile order through the drive-thru. The customer service was a 5/10 at this location. Our entire order took over 5 minutes to be prepared once we pulled up to the first window. The drive-thru worker was polite enough but didn't do anything above and beyond.

When it comes to the price comparison, it wasn't bad at all, 10/10. For a large Baja Blast it is $3.29, but for the Olivia Rodrigo Baja Blast it was $3.59. And to go along with her Daisy Chain Fields initiative, 10 cents from every Pretty Pink Baja Blast purchase is donated to fund a grant to Girls Inc.

Temperature-wise, it was very cold, as it should be, and had a great drink-to-ice ratio, 10/10.

Visuals are the core draw to this drink because it's supposed to match the aesthetic of her new album, which is pink. In reality, the drink looks slightly purple unless held over a light, where it does appear very pink. There have been some annoyed fans online who said the drink wasn't pink, but I myself am not too upset since her first two albums are purple. Also, it's just basic color theory that if you mix blue and pink, you get purple, so I have no personal grievance with the color being slightly off. While, I don't have a problem with the color I do have a problem with not getting the promotional cup. Part of the reason I ordered this item was because it was a collaboration with an artist I support but for them to not have the cup less than a week after release is irritating. For these reasons, I give the visual portion a 7/10.

This drink is made by adding pink lemonade syrup to the Baja Blast and then mixing it up. The original drink is lime-flavored and traditionally pretty sweet, but the pink lemonade adds a hint of tartness. If I'm being honest, I really wanted to like this more than the original, but I just didn't. I think this was already a high bar to reach for since the original is just timeless, but nonetheless, I was a little disappointed. I think I would've been happy if the drink was just pink for a limited time rather than changing the flavor. I was also confused about why the flavor was pink lemonade, aside from the color. I think it would've been cool if they found a way to link the flavor to one of her songs or lyrics instead. Overall, I would give the flavor portion a 4/10.

Finally, I would not get this item again for the same reasons as in my last blog. I don't want to spend more money on something unless I truly love it more than the cheaper alternative. On this scale, the Pretty Pink Baja Blast receives a 0/10.

Concluding Thoughts

I was underwhelmed again by Taco Bell's new collaboration, which is a new feeling I have towards Taco Bell. I was very excited to hear about this collab since these are two things I love coming together. My overall rating for the drink is 6/10 after combining all the scores.

A Teenie Bit of Cantina

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my dissection of the new Olivia Rodrigo drink. If you've enjoyed reading this week's blog, please follow my social media accounts to hear about when my next one will be out. Next week, I will be exploring the different items included in the Cantina menu est. in 2011, where Taco Bell highlights its slow-roasted chicken and avocado verde salsa.
